Welcome to my quest to learn how to speak Japanese!

Learn Japanese with me!

At this point in my life I'd like to learn how to speak something other than Tagalog and English. I am extremely interested in becoming fluent in Japanese. I have chosen Japanese for several reasons. One of which is I'd love to travel around Japan for awhile, and of course I'm hoping it will "challenge" my brain.

Japanese is a very difficult language to learn. Japanese sentence structure is classified as subject-object-verb. English is subject-verb-object. Sentence structure is backwards from English so you have to start thinking backwards.

My quest to learn Japanese started out with Pimsleur Japanese audio books. Basically the Pimsleur Course is 30 mp3 lessons of about 30 minutes each. Each lesson begins with a short dialogue in Japanese. Following on from that you are asked questions and you respond in Japanese.

The objective is to introduce you to the language and culture of Japan primarily through your ears, and only secondarily through your eyes.

This is going to be a long term goal but I'd love to give it a shot anyway. I will try every means possible to achieve my goal and I will not give up! Good luck! :)

Oh, and if you see a cute girl walking a long talking to herself, it’s probably me listening to Pimsleur on my iPod. ;)

  1. Aww... I am actually using Pimsleur to learn Japanese myself and cam across this while trying to clarify a phrase from a lesson. I woulda been great to see all their lessons in text form but... It's been a little over six years, so I'm guessing this is another abandoned blog. It happens, I know. I've even got a few myself...
